The Clemson Tigers are not in the tournament they would like to be in but they will try to advance in the NIT anyway as they host Mississippi tonight. Clemson is in the postseason NIT for the 14th time, and they are 12-13 all-time in the tournament. In the first round, Clemson knocked off East Tennessee State by a final of 64-57. The Tigers are 15-0 against non-conference opponents this season but in a weird twist, SBG Global reports that most early money is on Mississippi plus the points.
Mississippi is making its seventh NIT appearance and is 7-6 all-time in the event. They got an easy 73-59 decision over Appalachian State in the first round. The Rebels had four players in double digits in the victory. The Rebels shot 49.1 percent from the floor while holding the Mountaineers to 37.3 percent shooting from the field. Ole Miss has forced 508 turnovers this season so it will be interesting to see how many Clemson adds to that total.
Clemson is a 5.5 point favorite with a total of 139 at SBG Global sportsbook.
Clemson shot just 37.9 percent from the floor against East Tennessee State in the first round. The Tigers also committed 19 turnovers and as mentioned earlier, that does not bode well against a Mississippi team that forces a ton of turnovers. K.C. Rivers had 17 points and 14 rebounds for Clemson in the win over East Tennessee State. Rivers is averaging a team-high 13.3 points per game this season. In addition to committing a lot of turnovers the Tigers can’t shoot free throws coming in at just over 58%.
Clemson owns a 2-1 series edge over the Rebels, but the teams haven't met since 1982.

Kansas State will try to win another home game tonight as they host DePaul in the NIT. The Wildcats are coming of a tough 59-57 victory over Vermont in the first round. Back in 1994, the Wildcats made it all the way to the semifinals of the NIT. DePaul won the NIT back in 1945 and finished second in both 1944 and 1983. They are coming off an 83-71 win over Hofstra. Kansas State holds a 3-2 advantage over the Blue Demons all-time, with the Wildcats claiming a 66-58 decision in the most recent meeting during the 1988 NCAA Tournament. SBG Global reports that the gambling public all over Kansas State laying the points.
DePaul shot 54.7 percent from the field in their win over Hofstra. Wilson Chandler tied a career-high with 26 points and Sammy Mejia had 16 points. Chandler and Mejia were the keys to the offense during the regular season as they both averaged over 14 points per game.
Kansas State is a 5 point favorite with a total of 126.5 at SBG Global.
Kansas State had to make a big comeback against Vermont just to get to this game. They trailed by 12 with just over 10 minutes left but outscored Vermont 20-6 the rest of the way. Cartier Martin had a game-high 19 points before fouling out. Akeem Wright finished with 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Martin leads the team in scoring with 17 points per game.
