Time to be careful on the ice

| I love hockey. I love watching and betting on it. But over my many years of watching and betting on it I have learned a valuable lesson. Late in the season it becomes very difficult to determine what teams are trying their best and what teams have already made their post season travel plans. This is obviously true for teams that are out of the playoff race but it can also be true of teams that really can't affect thier playoff position or of teams that may be trying to rest certain players as the playoffs approach. Good examples this season are the Blues and Blue Jackets who have no chance of making the playoffs but yet seem to be giving better teams fits late in the season. On the other side is a team like the Sabres that pretty much have the East #1 seed locked up and I'm sure they would like to win the President's trophy but the coaches still may decide to rest certain players, or play them less, or experiment with different line combinations for the rest of the season. Another example would be the Red Wings since they have a veteran team and coaching staff that realizes playoff seeding means very little, they may be more intent on resting players and not getting hurt instead of giving it their all for the #1 seed in the West. My point here is that you need to be very careful late in the NHL season since motivation is a big question mark for many teams and motivation goes a long way toward determining how a team will play on a given night. Rest assured I will still be handicapping the games looking for beatable lines the rest of the season but I would anticipate that my plays will be few and far between until the playoffs start in early April. You know I will be ready to go when the puck drops on the 2007 playoff season and you can be right there with me in the cashiers line by grabbing my plays right here on YouWinNow.com. As always, good luck and get ready to make some profitable investments in the NHL playoffs with Jimmy. |
