Super Bowl Betting History

Super Bowl Betting is the premier sports betting event. More money is wagered on the Super Bowl than the World Series, NBA Finals, and NHL Finals combined. And here we are again. Less than two weeks away and it is Super Bowl fever. It doesn't matter if you are a fan of either team or not. The Super Bowl is a reason to get together with your friends and/or family and drink beer, place some friendly wagers, and yell at the TV.
But for those of us who are looking to profit by wagering on the Super Bowl, game research becomes paramount. The fact is by this time of year, we know both rosters so well and have watched a ton of games so we have a great idea of whom we like to win and by how much. And it is our one last chance to capitalize on the bookie using the sport we love more than any other.
The New England/New York Giants Super Bowl Spread hit the deck at NE -13 and the total at 53 at most sportsbooks. Since the line has been bet down a bit to NE -12 and the total has climbed a tad to 54. The Patriots are 1-3-1 in Super Bowls against the point spread. The newest cast, with Tom Brady at the helm, is 1-2, only covering a +14 point spread against the heavily favored Rams in which the Pats won out right. The ATS for Super Bowls of point spreads of 10 points or more are 7-5-1. The favorite covered 7 times, underdog 5 times, and 1 push.
The biggest point spread, and perhaps most famous Super Bowl point spread, was the 1969 Super Bowl III when the heavily favored Baltimore Colts were upset by the Joe Namath and his Jets 16-7.
