The Connecticut Huskies fight for survival continues tonight as they host Syracuse in a Big Monday ESPN match-up. The Huskies are 3-6 in the conference and will need some wins if they expect to make the NCAA Tournament next month. The Orange comes into the game at 5-4 in the conference. The Kevin Durant show continues tonight as Texas travels to College Station to take on Texas A&M. Durant and the Longhorns are coming off a home loss to Kansas State, breaking their 22 game winning streak at home. Texas A&M is coming off a huge win at Kansas that should improve their rankings into the top five in the country. Reports at SBG Global tell us that the gambling public is taking Texas on the road plus the points.
The Aggies are 7-1 in the conference, one game ahead of Texas who is 6-2. This will be a key game for the Longhorns if they are to have anything to say about winning the Big 12. Texas will again be counting on Durant, the superstar freshman who is leading the Longhorns in scoring and also the Big 12 in conference play, averaging 33 points per game. He had 32 points in the loss versus Kansas State on Saturday.
This is the first meeting between the two teams this season. They met three times last season with Texas winning two of the three games. They split their regular season meetings with each winning on their home court and the Longhorns won the conference tournament match-up. Things could be different this season though, as A&M comes into the game the higher ranked team with the better record.
